The Richmond County Savings family’s roots in the Staten Island community go back to when the Bank first opened its doors in 1886.
In 1998, the Richmond County Savings Foundation was formed:
- To share with the community part of the financial success of Richmond County Savings Bank as a community minded financial service institution.
- To enable the community to share in the growth and profitability of the Bank.
Richmond County Savings Foundation has established itself as a leading philanthropic institution in the Staten Island community and beyond. We invest in projects that offer dimension to our community and programs that offer choices and services.
The Foundation supports places within our community where people are nourished, students learn, patients heal, nature is enjoyed, culture is explored, seniors’ lives are enriched and human services are offered.
Richmond County Savings Foundation is committed to continued success in supporting our communities’ non-profit organizations.
Our History
The Richmond County Savings Foundation was established in 1998 by Richmond County Savings Bank, continuing a legacy of community commitment that dates back to the bank’s founding in 1886. Created to share the bank’s financial success with the community, the Foundation was designed to ensure that local growth and prosperity would directly benefit the people of Staten Island.
In its first year, the Foundation awarded more than $1.6 million in grants, setting the stage for decades of impactful giving. Since then, it has grown into a leading philanthropic institution, contributing over $75 million to nonprofit organizations that support education, healthcare, cultural enrichment, and human services.
Among its most impactful initiatives is the Food Pantry Program, launched in 2008 to address food insecurity across the borough. Through this signature effort, the Foundation has provided nearly $3 million in funding to support a network of local food pantries and community partners, helping to expand access to nutritious food for individuals, families, seniors, and other vulnerable populations.
Today, the Richmond County Savings Foundation continues to support a wide range of local organizations and initiatives, working thoughtfully with community partners to help address evolving needs and enhance quality of life across Staten Island.
